Fantasy Acting League 2016 – Round Five

The good thing about me being behind on schedule is that when I finally do get my butt in gear, we get several rounds of Fantasy Acting in a short space of time. This is a good thing today, because this round is a little minimalist. Only a few actors really shone – namely Michael Shannon. The Michael Fassbender fans picked up some points too, but not as many as I bet they planned on scoring. But we can discuss that all in a minute. For now, let’s just chart the scores and see where everyone ended up.

NB: Apparently I missed Teresa Palmer from the last round, so everyone who has Teresa Palmer on their teams will pick up another two points for her supporting role in Knight of Cups.

Round Analysis

Well, Michael Fassbender tanked, didn’t he? There’s still time yet for him to win us over. From the sounds of it, a clunky X-Men script let him down this time, so at the very least, the man hasn’t forgotten to act. It just meant that half of the teams only inched forward this round, rather than join the race to the top as I imagine they assumed they would. It was the Michael Shannon players who excelled this time around, a solid six points lifting them higher up the field. A cheeky Ryan Gosling movie also helped Views From The Sofa kick-start his run up a notch, hopefully something he can add to, next round.

Oh god… Prudence is going to kill me for this!

The real major shake-up is Drew, our official stealth player taking the lead from Cinema Parrot Disco once again. Not even running crying to the ref about Teresa Palmer’s absence last round could save her from Drew’s secret weapon: Jason Sudekis. I was confused as to Drew’s addition of the actor this year, but today he shone. Two films in a single round is an impressive point scorer any time of the year, but Empire actually complimented his rare dramatic performance in Race. If only the Angry Birds Movie could add to that run, but few assumed it would be the dark horse of the Fantasy Acting League. Meanwhile, I score no points and remain miles behind Drew. That marks the last time I doubt his team picks in this game.
