Round Analysis
Cinema Parrot Disco is apparently unstoppable. Three months down and she still keeps her reign as the Fantasy Acting queen, keeping up her steady flow of points. While most of us went for the heavy-hitters, Cinema Parrot Disco played it safe and went for those actors that constantly bring out movies. Another eight points is a lot more than most of us can manage and it kept her with a solid 25 points. However, if Game of Thrones has taught us anything, every Queen has someone waiting to push her off a throne and WordPress’s very own Daenerys Targaryen, albeit far more Irish and twice as fiery, Verbal Spew has raced into second place, helped along by a solid performance from Helen Mirren and dark horse of this race, Anna Kendrick. The scary thing is that she is only one point away from the top. It keeps this game exciting and makes Cinema Parrot Disco’s lead not as comfortable as she would like.
I called Anna Kendrick a dark horse. Why? Well, she is pretty much leading the way for the top three, seeing as every month, she has brought out a movie to help boost her place on the roster. Sure, nothing she has done has set the world on fire (although The Last Five Years won her six points, her highest scoring round yet), but her constant stream of point-scoring as made all the difference in the world. It proves that Cinema Parrot Disco, Spew and Mr. Movie knew something that we all didn’t know. Also Round 3 saw things get interesting, as certain actors start adding points up. Insurgent might have floundered slightly, but seeing as pretty much all of its cast were also in other things, points start flying. Shailene Woodley, Kate Winslet, Miles Teller, Jai Courtney and Zoey Kravitz all began stacking points up. Naomi Watts is in that list too, the high scorer of the month, something that Mark Walker is very happy about. He went from 0, to 10 points, jumping him right back into the race.
A shame the same couldn’t be said for Movie Rob who has yet to score a point. However with Chris Pratt on his team, Jurassic World could be the element that ruins us all…
I ❤ U HELEN MIRREN
Damn Man!
Ms. Watts, I think I love you. I knew she’d come good. Finally on the score board. 🙂
When I submitted my team, I felt like I was missing someone. About a week later I realized it was Anna. -_- Anyone have a time machine I can borrow?
I didn’t even clock Kendrick – she totally went under my radar. I was wondering why everyone was picking her and now I am feeling a little dim.
The thing is, I feel like I considered adding her to my team because I put it together shortly after seeing Into the Woods so she was fresh in my mind. But I can’t for the life of me remember why I didn’t. Let’s feel dim together.
im proud to be at the bottom. which goes to show that i know nothing abt actors and movies 🙂
Part of me wants you to win it with the comeback of the century!
That would be cool. I actually hoped to get points out of the starting gate with Cooper in American Sniper. Guess that was december 😉
I have got so much stick for starting a month late! Haha.
Oh well. Thats life!
But if Cooper keeps up his trend for the last three years, he will bring out three or four movies at the end of the year, so a comeback isn’t a laughable suggestion.
Too bad. The next best thing to winning is losing miserably 😉
Only part? ;(
F**k!!! I totally forgot about this!! NOooooooOOO!!!!
Sorry Luke, I was totally down for this. However I’ll gladly sit in the peanut gallery and look on. This is such a great idea.
Dammit Tom. . . .
I am pretty sure there will be another year of this. It might hell to organise, but as I look over the results and the comments, I just love every bit of it. The rivalries, the race for the top… It is just too much fun not to do again.
Right on. I’d like to take part and i’ll keep my ears/eyes peeled.
I will message you nearer to the time.
Sounds great.
I’m actually going okay 🙂
You’re another steady winner. And you have plenty of big-scorers waiting in the wings (Sam Jackson in Avengers could crop up next month)
Well done Table Nine Mutant! This is shaping up to be a good fight!
Jeesh, check out those scores! V came up out of nowhere and scored some heavy points. I feel like I am trundling along in a respectable manner hahahaha.
I’m not far behind! Let’s go!
