And the Oracle is back off holiday. Well, not quite. I still have a pretty hard day of work and right as you are reading this, I am probably slaving away over my ‘mystery, third job’ that I have no idea how much of a mystery it still is, for anyone that follows me too closely on Twitter. I am just too terrible at keeping secrets. But I knew that even if I couldn’t post for the entirety of this week, there was no way in hell I could deny you guys Question of the Month. You put so much effort into these answers and I don’t want you guys going another second without reading the article below.
The Question in hand: What Movie Are You Most Looking Forward To? This could be a film this year, next year, 2016, 2017… if it has been rumoured, you have my permission to write about it. It was a pretty big ask, because there are like five different films coming out in the future, but you guys stood up and took the challenge. You didn’t just take it, you ran with it and delivered it right back to me with a pretty red ribbon and a glass of champagne to make my life that little bit easier. And what else? You got really passionate over my sub-question: what actor should play Eric Isaacs, as in the IPC, as in Commander Shitfest, as in Lord of the Probies? Some of the answers have convinced me that someone, out there, right now, needs to be making an Eric Isaacs biopic.
ORACLE OF FILM – THE HOBBIT: THE BATTLE OF FIVE ARMIES
Who isn’t hyped for this movie? It all ends on the 12th December. The entire Hobbit trilogy, the last of the six Middle-Earth movies. The entire journey starting way back with the Fellowship of the Ring, starting with this bright, young director somehow getting producers to invest in one of the biggest cinematic risks in a long time. It is amazing to see how far the movies have come and they are easily one of the biggest successes in movie history. The Hobbit might be the younger brother to Lord of the Rings in terms of quality and interest, but it still demands awe and respect, especially with the addition of a huge dragon, one embodied by the perfect CGI that Peter Jackson is the master of.
I just want to know how it all ends. I mean… I know how it ends, after reading the book, but I want to see Jackson’s interpretation of it. He has made the character arcs wider. I want to see where Thorin’s character ends up, spiralling into darkness, almost becoming the hidden villain of the piece, depending on your opinion of the character. Then there is Jackson’s vision of the final war, which should be… will be… mind-blowingly epic. I am getting goose-bumps, because we are that close to the release.
IPC – The Movie: I am not sure if I want to see Mel Gibson play Eric in a IPC biopic or Eric play Mel Gibson in a Gibson biopic, but either would become a blockbuster hit.
SILVER SCREEN SERENADE – JURASSIC WORLD
GAWD. Just when I thought Luke’s monthly questions couldn’t get any more difficult, here we are with another impossible one. What upcoming movie am I most anticipating right now? Like, a movie? One, singular movie? How the heck am I supposed to pick just one?! For the past several weeks, scores of movies have been battling for my love. Curses were uttered, blood was drawn, and bribes were sent (though I would never admit to accepting any of them in a court of law), but finally, like a phoenix from the ashes, one movie has arisen victorious from the bloody battlefield. That movie is Jurassic World.
Several factors contributed to this victory: 1) I just finished something of a Jurassic Park marathon, so I’m a little high on dinosaurs right now. 2) Chris Pratt is the leading male of the movie, and between The Lego Movie and Guardians of the Galaxy, I am currently obsessed with this man. 3) After the atrocious third JP film, the franchise not only deserves a reboot, but it desperately needs it. 4) The writer/director, Colin Trevorrow, is something of a mystery, and I find that intriguing. He’s done a short, a documentary, a TV movie, and one feature-length film, Safety Not Guaranteed. He’s ready to make a splash. What better way to put your name on the map than with an epic reboot? 5) C’mon–it’s f@%#ing Jurassic Park! Dinosaurs, man! So for all of these reasons, I am very anxious to see Jurassic World.
Honorable mentions: Avengers: Age of Ultron, Interstellar, Star Wars: Episode VII
IPC – The Movie: Well, I know who Eric would want to play Eric: the love of his life (aside from Mrs. The IPC), Nick Offerman. But here’s the problem: Nick Offerman is only 5’11”. That’s, like, half of Eric. I imagine a gentle giant such as Brian Posehn or perhaps a younger Randy Quaid (although he’d have to be much less obnoxious than many of his characters). But you know what would be really awesome? If The Hound would play Eric. As a Game of Thrones fan, Eric might love that. Personally, I don’t think it would be a stretch for Rory McCann. Can’t you imagine The Hound stretched out on a couch, tossing back beers, and swearing up a storm at whatever foul thing he just popped into the DVD player? Perfection.
WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE – SNOWPIERCER
My most anticipated movie has got to be Snowpiercer. I know it’s already been released in several countries and despite a supposed June 2014 UK release date I haven’t seen it marketed or screened anywhere. In fact the only reason I even know it exists is because I have read so many epic reviews for in the blogosphere. So far every review I have read has hailed it as exciting, interesting, dark, disturbing and packed with outstanding performances. These are all things I like. Every review I read just makes me more excited. It even has a 95% Rotten Tomatoes rating! I have now resigned myself to the fact that it’s unlikely to make it into mainstream theatres here so I’m hoping there will be a VOD release at some point.
IPC – The Movie: The second question is way more challenging… Eric is a character who is as wise as he is foolish… as enigmatic as he is an open book… as obsessed with boobs as he is well, obsessed with boobs. He is a man willing to sit through hours of shit so we don’t have to, a community builder and a legend in his own lunch hour. For all of these reasons I would like to see him played by Will Ferrell. I feel he could inject the requisite level of frivolity, bathos and comic genius to play our very own Lord Shitfest himself. Where do I sign up for the Kickstarter?
TIM THE FILM GUY – DAWN OF JUSTICE
This is an easy one for me. I am comic nerd and my favourite superhero characters are Superman and Batman, so obviously a film with both is a freaking dream! It is clearly going to lead into a justice league film, my guess is an end to the film featuring small cameos from other leaguers on their home turf. AHHHHHHH! Please get it right Warner Bros. I need more DC, I just need more!
IPC – The Movie: Daniel Day Lewis, because only the best actor around can capture the essence that is Eric Isaacs.
SNAP CRACKLE WATCH – INTERSTELLAR
The movie I am the most looking forward to this year would have to be Christopher Nolan’s upcoming flick Interstellar. I absolutely loved last year’s Gravity and the premise of space travel in movies has always interested me. Coupled with the fact that this will be a Nolan film has me even more excited. Where will he go with this? How will he bend our minds? Will he take us to another level that he hasn’t gone before? I am also interested in seeing Matthew McConaughey in the lead role. The McConaussiance is going strong at the moment and he is definitely on a roll right now and I am sure this movie will only make us fans love him even more.
IPC – The Movie: My choice would have to be Nick Offerman of Parks and Recreation. He would be great, he would be shown watching scary movies while eating lots of bacon and drawing up pervy comics. In other words he would be great! I’d watch that movie!
MOVIEROB – STAR WARS VII
Like many of you, I’m very excited about the upcoming Star Wars movies. I have been a SUPER FAN of the whole galaxy far far away for 35+ years. I read all the new books religiously from 1991 until just a few years ago (yes, I’ve lagged a bit now), but I can’t wait to see what JJ Abrams and Disney have in store for us. Yes, I may know more about many of the characters than most people, but that makes watching them on screen even more interesting. Unlike many fans, I also enjoyed the prequel trilogy and the experiences of seeing 5 of the 6 (missed Empire) in the theater numerous times was an experience that I hope to share with my kids.
IPC – The Movie: Simple. Jack Black
CINEMA PARROT DISCO – TOMORROWLAND
Another difficult question, Luke. I’m sure we’re all looking forward to loads of films! Okay – I’m obviously looking forward to all the big ones like Interstellar (less so on that since seeing Anne Hathaway’s big mouth in the longer trailer) and all the superhero movies (even though they’re maybe getting to be a bit much) and, of course, STAR WARS (although that also worries me greatly!). I’m going to choose something a bit different as my answer, though: The film I’m most looking forward to is Disney’s “science fiction mystery adventure film” directed by Brad Bird: Tomorrowland.
I always try to not hype things up too much in my mind but, if done right, Tomorrowland has the potential to be EPIC! Bird is responsible for The Incredibles, Ratatouille and the totally underrated classic The Iron Giant. So… the guy is good! They’ve remained VERY secretive about Tomorrowland but this is the basic plot synopsis released by Disney:
Bound by a shared destiny, a bright, optimistic teen bursting with scientific curiosity and a former boy-genius inventor jaded by disillusionment embark on a danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space that exists in their collective memory as “Tomorrowland.”
I love sci-fi and I love Disney/Pixar so this is totally my type of thing. There’s no WAY it could ever top WALL-E but if it comes even remotely close, I’ll be very happy. Can’t wait to see it! 🙂
IPC – The Movie: Ohhh. Who should play Eric Isaacs? Another tough question! It would have to be either Steve Buscemi, Jack Black, John Leguizamo, or Dane Cook… I’d totally watch the movie no matter who starred in it, though! What genre would it be? Horror Porn? Can I change THIS to my answer to the previous question?? This is the movie I’m now most looking forward to. 🙂
THE IPC – TRUE DETECTIVE (sigh – he had to be f*****g different, didn’t he? :P)
I don’t really keep up with upcoming movies and such so if I had to choose one I would go with Interstellar. I’m also not 100% sure what it’s about but it’s by Christopher Nolan and he has yet to do anything wrong IMO. But – if we wanted to talk about Moving Pictures – as in “movies” – I would have to say the only thing I just CAN’T WAIT for is the next season of True Detective. BRING IT!!
IPC – The Movie: So, yeah. When I was a kid I ran around with long, red hair like the hippie I was. When I was in my teens I went out in the sun a lot and my hair went blond and my mom always said I looked like Cary Elwes from The Princess Bride, minus the fancy porn stache. So I would say him but he’s turned into a fat, yellow squash so I would say Nic Cage, but he’s gotten balder than I am. I guess the obvious answer would be John Ritter. Before he died, of course. If I had to pick someone living, it would have to be: the guy that gets to get in the sack with Jessica Chastain.
SPORADIC CHRONICLES OF A BEGINNER BLOGGER – JAMES BOND
If anyone every actually got up and put together a Deadpool movie, that would be the best thing ever. But whatever, rumours for years, nothing coming to fruition. Aside from that, I am ridiculously excited for the as of yet untitled Bond 24. I freaking love Daniel Craig as James Bond, I think he is the best we have ever seen, and I am willing to take heat for that. I am really psyched to see where everything goes what with Ralph Fiennes (YAY) stepping in as M, though I will miss Dame Judi Dench a hell of a lot in that role, as well as Ben Whishaw helming the role of Q now. I thought Skyfall was great, though it was definitely a very different type of Bond flick. The last few outings have really revamped the franchise. I was hoping the rumour that was circulating about Nolan possibly doing Bond 24 would pan out, but no such luck. Just imagine if Nolan stepped in, took my favourite Bond, and built his own thing? That would totally revolutionise Bond as we know him. Regardless of, this is certainly something that I am looking forward to, and Sam Mendes will undoubtedly do another fantastic job (or he damn well better, anyway).
IPC – The Movie: I would cast Jason Segel to play Eric Isaacs in a biopic. I think he can nail the quirky aspect, the lover of all things strange and entertaining in the weirdest ways, he can do more serious for those depro moments if needs be, plus he’s highly amusing and almost tall enough to play the beloved Chop!
WHAT ABOUT THE TWINKIE – AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON
When I first looked at Luke’s email for September’s question of the month, I thought I would be able to give an easy answer. My initial thoughts on my most anticipated film usually lie in the summer blockbuster season, and are more often than not comic book related, but then I got thinking & did a little research and realised this question may be harder to answer than I originally thought. Luke did tell us we could pick any film, whether it had been confirmed or not, but rather than go on about films that are not set in the proverbial stone yet, i.e. Justice League or Aquaman, I went about finding a list of films that would be released in 2015. Unfortunately for me, I had no idea how many films were actually set for release next year. A brief look at the list shows us the likes of Jupiter Ascending, Mad Max: Fury Road, Tomorrowland, Insidious: Chapter 3, Entourage, Terminator: Genisys, Poltergeist, Bond 24, the list really does go on.
I did however manage to whittle the list down to three choices. I think third choice would be Star Wars: Episode VII. Despite my dislike of the prequel trilogy, I was recently fortunate enough to see the original Star Wars again, and if JJ Abrams can bring that sort of magic back to the franchise then I am all in. Second choice would have to be Jurassic World. The original film is one of my absolute favourites, and while the sequels got gradually worse, I have faith that director Colin Trevorrow and star Chris Pratt can make something that will be able to stand next to the first film in terms of quality.
So, what’s my first choice? I doubt my pick will surprise anyone but it has to be Avengers: Age of Ultron. It may be a boring and obvious pick, but damn it I love the Marvel films, and they don’t get any bigger than when the Avengers get together. The recent Marvel films have upped both the ante and the quality of late, so I’m expecting big things from Joss Whedon next year in what will be his last entry in the Marvel franchise.
IPC – The Movie: Nick Frost. I’ve included a very specific picture.
DIGITAL SHORTBREAD – FOXCATCHER
My most anticipated film??? What a question to ask when we are about to enter the fall months of the calendar. I have many very very extremely anticipated, and I could even list my most obvious choice but in order to spice this answer up a bit, I’m going to go ahead and mention my #2 choice: it’s gotta be Foxcatcher, starring an almost-unrecognizable Steve Carell and a freaking huge Channing Tatum. It actually comes out a week after my #1 most anticipated film (*cough* Interstellar *cough* splutter)
IPC – The Movie: Excellent sub-question! Hah! Hmmmm. . . . . I have to say dude, I’ve seen your acting skills before in some vids. I nominate you as the character of Eric Isaacs. I know you’ll do a good job. Will Eric approve? Who knows?

Some great choices 😀
Daniel Day Lewis, huh? With or without a moustache??
With obviously.
Wow this is awesome!! I love that everyone has a different choice. I want all of these movies to be out…RIGHT NOW. Including the Eric Isaacs movie. Can we just have each one of these actors play him in different scenes?
Cara!!!

What time is it? Question of the Month time! Luke’s questions are always great, but this might be my favorite so far: What Movie Are You Most Looking Forward To? So many awesome answers here. Bonus question: Who would play Mr. Eric “The IPC” Isaacs in a movie?
Great choice of films coming soon, think the two I’m most looking forward to is Avengers 2 and Star Wars VII, those films are going to be so awesome!

Pingback: THE IPC SUNDAY FUNNIES!! THREE’S CUMPANY s2 ep1 | Isaacs Picture Conclusions
I was away too long….what is this about an IPC movie?? We all know Eric is actually the little kid from Sleepaway Camp, so its all very meta and he is already an actor. 🙂
Nice post Luke (and others involved!). I didn’t love Snowpiercer as much as most fyi 😦
You haven’t heard?? Luke is producing a movie about the IPC. Should be a hit!
Love,

Abbott,
Which Gibson? Thunderdome Gibson or Sugar Tits Gibson??
I hate the Jews Gibson.
You wrote that. Not me.

Probably not my first choice but I give what the fans want.

Yes, you need to clarify ‘YOU’ in your statement there. Does this mean I am donning my sadness blouse again (only to have it ripped off later), or are you referring to Squire Luke?
BOTH!!

Zuts, oh my word. What a fantastic choice!!!!!!!
Cara, we are officially now tighter homies than ever. . .Jurassic World is gonna be awesome. And if you haven’t seen Safety Not Guaranteed, check that one out. Trevorrow is a talent to look out for.
SnapCrackle — HELL YES!!!
Mutey, I’ve ridden the ride at Disney’s Epcot Center, so badass! That’ll make for an interesting movie methinks.
🙂 Glad to hear that Tom! I thought really long and hard about this! Some great choices here! 🙂 Love your Luke nomination… BUT how tall is Luke???
6ft exactly, but Tom Cruise played Jack Reacher, so CGI and camera trickery will make it possible.
Hmmmmm…. 6ft? Tall, very good. Yes, I think that bumped you WAY up the list!
Tom – After reviewing the answers I think I like yours the best, I really think Eric should just play himself. I could totally see him being like a method actor too. lol
HOMIES 4 LIFE, BRO. *fist bump*
I would fist-bump in return, but I’m already looking through a slightly-smashed screen after some enthusiasm came over me when me and Louie (Thy Critic Man) were talking about Interstellar. So i’ll mental fist-bump. 🙂
Lol!! Well, yes, let’s stick to mental fist bumps then. I don’t want to break your stuff.
Tom! I’ve not been on the ride but the movie sounds pretty cool! : )
Grr. Interstellar.. Anne Hathaway’s mouth! Grrrrr. I’ll still watch it, though! : )
I was so confused. Lol! I’m glad this is the real one. I am now looking forward to all these films… well except Bond. Sorry lovely Zoë but I just don’t get 007 at all!
Hahaha. Did you genuinely think everyone just turned around and launched insults at me?
Yes and I was well upset on your behalf. I am a dick.
Aw lady, it is alright, we can’t all love the same stuff! 😛

Hope you get Snowpiercer soon, it is a damn fine film lady!
Abbi! I don’t think we’ll ever get to see Snowpiercer here. Dammit!!!!! : ( So unfair…
I know 😡
Wouldn’t an IPC film just be the Buffalo Bill scenes from Silence of the Lambs but more creepy?
No. That’s the ‘Making Of’ documentary you are thinking of. Lol
